The ACM SIGCOMM Distinguished Community Service Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the SIGCOMM community through service-related activities. This includes efforts to improve diversity and inclusion, support students and early-career faculty, and strengthen the overall health of our community. The award consists of a plaque and complimentary registration to the annual SIGCOMM Conference. The award will be presented at the SIGCOMM Conference Awards Ceremony. There is no lecture associated with this award.
Self-nominations are accepted.
The nominee need not be a member of ACM SIGCOMM.
Nominations can be submitted by anyone; SIGCOMM membership is not required.
Nominations must be received by the SIGCOMM Awards Committee by the announced deadline (March 31 each year).
Nominations that do not result in an award may be resubmitted or updated in subsequent years.
Previous recipients of the Distinguished Community Service Award are not eligible for future nominations.
Members of the Award Committee and the SIGCOMM Executive Committee are not eligible.
Nomination Form: A completed nomination form (provided during the nomination period).
Description of Contributions: A statement detailing the nominee’s service contributions and their impact on the SIGCOMM community.
Support Letters: Two letters of support from SIGCOMM members or other members of the SIGCOMM community, verifying the nominee’s impact.
Concise Citation: A one-sentence summary of the nominee’s contributions (to appear on the award plaque).
Nominators are encouraged to gather all materials before the deadline. All submissions must be uploaded via the online nomination form, which will be available one month before the nomination deadline. Late nominations will be considered in the following year.

Committee Size: The committee consists of four members: three regular members and one chair.
Term Length: Each regular member serves a three-year term, with one new member appointed each year to replace the outgoing member. Terms are staggered to ensure continuity. Members may be reappointed after their term ends, but may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.
Chair Term: The chair serves a one-year renewable term, limited to a maximum of two years.
