New SIG Education Director
We welcome Matthew Caesar as the new SIGCOMM Education Director. Matt is replacing Tristan Henderson, whom we would like to thank for his several years of service to the SIG in that capacity.
New SIGCOMM podcasts
While working on the celebration of SIGCOMM’s 50th anniversary, we discussed about the possibility of recording podcasts with SIGCOMM award winners. In parallel, Russ White had been recording podcasts about the history of networking and he offered to record podcasts with SIGCOMM award winners. The first of these podcasts is a discussion with Jennifer Rexford on the history of the history of programmable control planes. Other podcasts will be released in the coming months.

Deadline for the July issue of ACM SIGCOMM CCR is March 1st
ACM SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review (CCR) newsletter is published every quarter. The deadline for the submission of technical papers and editorials for the July issue of CCR is conference is March 1st, 2020.

Call for Proposals for the 5th Applied Networking Research Workshop (ANRW '20)
The 5th Applied Networking Research Workshop (ANRW '20) is a one day event bringing together researchers, operators and representatives of the Internet standards community. Co-located with IETF 108 in Madrid, ANRW '20 will take place on Monday July 27th, at the IETF venue.
We are looking for submissions in the form of short papers discussing original research that is relevant to the IETF and IRTF community and can lead to changes to, or new insights on Internet standards and protocols. We also solicit descriptions of early work or updates on ongoing work in the form of lightning papers that are presented as posters at the workshop. Participating in ANRW '20 provides an excellent opportunity to interact with the IETF and IRTF community.

Three SIGCOMM award deadlines on March 31st
Please note that March 31st marks the deadline for nominations for 3 of our SIGCOMM awards: i) SIGCOMM award for lifetime contribution, ii) SIGCOMM networking systems award, and iii) SIGCOMM Test of Time award (optional). Please follow the nomination guidelines at http://www.sigcomm.org/awards.
ACM SOSR’20: Call for Participation / Registration
The organizing committee is delighted to invite you to the ACM SIGCOMM Symposium on SDN Research (SOSR), to be held on March 3, 2020 in San Jose, CA. SOSR is the premiere venue for research publications on SDN, building on past years' successful SOSR and HotSDN (Hot Topics in Software Defined Networking) workshops. New to this year, SOSR will be co-located with the Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit to foster interaction between academic and industrial attendees.
We are also pleased to announce that we will again be giving out the SOSR Software Systems Award at this year's SOSR, which recognizes software that has significantly impacted SDN.

Call for Volunteers: CRA-WP and CRA-URMD workshops
SIGCOMM supports increasing diversity in the community and has been a sponsor of CRA-WP workshops. We are looking for volunteers to attend two upcoming CRA-WP grad cohort workshops. The CRA-WP Grad Cohort for Women aims to increase the ranks of senior women in computing-related studies and research by building and mentoring nationwide communities of women through their graduate studies. The CRA-WP Grad Cohort Workshop for URMD, created more recently, has similar goals, but for underrepresented minorities and persons with disabilities. Both workshops include a mix of formal presentations, informal discussions and social events. Senior computing researchers and other professionals share pertinent information on graduate school survival skills, as well as insights about their experiences. The Grad Cohort for URMD takes place on March 5-7 in Austin, while the Grad Cohort for Women happens on April 16-18 in New Orleans.
SIGCOMM is looking for members from the community to volunteer to participate in either of these two workshops. We offer registration and will cover domestic air travel and accommodation expenses, and expect the volunteer to participate in activities and engage in discussions with attendees interested in computer networks and communications (e.g., by manning the thematic lunch table and mingling with attendees in informal discussions and during social events). Volunteers will help attendees understand the pros and cons of pursuing a research career in the field and the opportunities available in the SIGCOMM community.
