Nomination Procedures

The SIGCOMM executive committee appoints a Nomination Chair (usually one of either the current or past chairman, as long as they are not running for re-election). The nominations chair puts together a slate of candidates (at least 2 candidates for each elected position). The slate of nominations is published in CACM. A member can petition to run as a candidate.

Elections

Each candidate writes a statement, the statements and ballot are mailed from ACM HQ to the active SIGCOMM members.

Officers may extend their terms once, they must request this and receive the approval of the ACM SIG Board.

A list of officers extending their offices is published in ACM MemberNet. A SIGCOMM member can contest the extension of an officer's term.
